Privacy Policy for Metrik.

Effective date: 22 June 2026. Metrik is a field-based meter reading and asset collection application provided by Devize for authorised organisation users.

The app is used to collect, view and update water meter information, meter readings, photographs, GPS positions, comments and related field records. This Privacy Policy explains how Metrik collects, uses, stores and protects information when the app is used.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to authorised users of the Metrik mobile application, including employees, contractors and field staff who use Metrik on behalf of their organisation.

Metrik is not intended for general public or consumer use.

2. Information we collect

Metrik may collect and process the following information:

  • User account information, such as username, organisation ID and assigned access permissions.
  • Device information, such as device name, device identifier, operating system and trusted-device registration status.
  • Meter reading information, including meter number, previous reading, new reading, consumption, read date and read-by user.
  • Water meter information, including address, owner name, meter size, meter status and replacement information.
  • Comments entered by users against meter records, special meter readings or replacement records.
  • Photographs captured or uploaded for meter reading, special reading or replacement records.
  • GPS location information captured for meter assets or used for map display, routing and field collection.
  • Authentication and security information, including login activity, device approval status, two-factor authentication status and push notification registration tokens.
  • Application diagnostic information required to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service.

3. Camera, location and device permissions

Metrik may request access to the following device permissions:

  • Camera: used to capture photographs of water meters and related field evidence.
  • Location/GPS: used to capture meter positions, show nearby meters, support auto-routing and display field records on maps.
  • Bluetooth or USB device access: used where an external GPS receiver is connected.
  • Notifications: used to receive operational messages, device approval notices and future field alerts.
  • Network access: used to communicate with the Devize API and synchronise records.

Metrik only uses these permissions to provide field collection, asset management and security functions.

4. How we use information

Information collected by Metrik is used to:

  • Authenticate users and protect access to organisation data.
  • Verify and approve trusted devices.
  • Display water meter, special reading and replacement records.
  • Capture and update meter readings, images, comments and GPS positions.
  • Support field navigation, nearby meter selection and map display.
  • Record who captured or changed information and when.
  • Send push notifications relevant to Metrik users.
  • Maintain system security, auditability and operational reliability.

5. Sharing of information

Metrik sends collected information to the Devize API and stores it in the organisation's configured database.

Information may be accessible to:

  • The user's organisation.
  • Authorised administrators.
  • Devize support or system administrators where required to provide support, maintenance, troubleshooting or security assistance.
  • Service providers used to operate the application, such as Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications.

Metrik does not sell personal information.

6. Push notifications

Metrik uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications. To enable this, the app may register a device notification token with the Devize API.

Notification tokens are used only to send relevant application notifications to the correct device or user.

7. Storage and security

Information is transmitted between the app and the Devize API using secure network communication where configured.

Access to Metrik is protected by account authentication, trusted-device checks, two-factor authentication where required, role-based permissions and optional biometric authentication.

Users should keep their device secure and must not share their login details.

8. Data retention

Metrik stores operational records for as long as required by the user's organisation, legal obligations, audit requirements or business processes.

Retention periods may vary depending on the organisation's records management policy.

9. Access, correction and deletion

Users should contact their organisation administrator to request access to, correction of or deletion of information stored through Metrik.

Some information may need to be retained for audit, legal, operational or record-keeping reasons.

10. Children's privacy

Metrik is not designed for or directed to children. The app is intended for authorised field staff and organisation users only.

11. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updated versions will be made available through the app, the organisation, or the relevant application distribution platform.
